Executive Director Opportunity



NAFACT is preparing to welcome an Executive Director to help lead its next stage of growth, strengthen philanthropic partnerships, and build practical development infrastructure.


Role Overview

The NAFACT Executive Director performs functions to establish and implement Urban Strategist’s mission, vision, core values (DNA) and strategic direction.  The Executive Director oversees and provides leadership in developing programs, organizational, and financial plans, and ensure the sustaining value of the organization to the community it serves. Other key responsibilities include promoting work and establishing relationships with key stakeholders in both regional and national locations. This is a full-time salaried position.

You come with a personally curated circle of influence locally, regionally and/or nationally. You have an ability to inspire trust and can delegate responsibilities with insight and fair execution. You are decisive and can work well under pressure while always trying to keep people’s humanity at the forefront of your interactions.

  • Minimal Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Organizational Management or Not-for-Profit Management.   
  • 7 years of experience in Business Management or related position. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking communication.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other specialty software and programs as required.
  • Strong orientation to details and organization.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English and/or bicultural.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the year as needed.
  • Master’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership.
  • 11 years of experience in executive leadership role.
  • Team Leadership (25%): Ensures project team works collaboratively and identifies integrated approaches to community transformation. Initiates, develops and sustains collaborative relationship with NAFACT broader team outside of designated area. Provides support and expertise where needed while equally gaining the same from colleagues.  
  • Programmatic Operations and Outcomes (25%): Hold program staff and or managers accountable for operations, outcomes, and financial stewardship of their respective programs while ensuring all programs are aligned with NAFACT mission and community transformational approach that centers the role of faith communities.    
  • Financial Stewardship and Resource Development (50%): Oversee acquisition and use of funds; secure and nurture funding streams with government institutions, particularly faith-based donors, private philanthropists, foundations and community partner networks in assigned regions/areas of responsibilities. 
  • Create an environment that fosters collaboration, agility, and sustains the overall financial, relational, and functional health of NAFACT. The Executive Director is the conduit to creating an optimistic and forward-thinking culture.    
  • Work closely with the Program Staff/Managers to ensure the alignment of activities of the organization and fidelity to its mission, vision, core values (DNA), and strategic direction.  
  • Leads in the development and pursuit of a department strategic plan that includes the setting of annual goals. Furthermore, holds accountability meetings to assist program managers in reaching these goals. 
  • Collaborates with key Urban Strategies leaders/departments, such as COO, Finance, and HR to execute a comprehensive strategic plan. 
  • Works to ensure team members and partners understand the strategic plan and its integration to the mission, vision, and core values (DNA) of NAFACT.    
  • Establish, build upon, and maintain relationships critical to the continuing growth and achievement of NAFACT mission.  Represent Urban Strategies in the community and communicate its mission and vision within and outside the organization. 
  • Engage with partners and potential partners, donors and potential donors, community representatives, church representatives and political constituencies to communicate the mission, vision, values (DNA), successes and plans for the future.     
  • Collaborate with Finance, Human Resources, and Communication Teams to positively impact fundraising, new business development, public relations and community involvement in designated regions.  
  • Monitor budget and other essential financial reports, maintaining continuous awareness of and accountability for the fiscal stability of the programs and NAFACT.  
  • Work with Programs Managers to create staffing plans, make hiring decisions, and execute annual review and annual compensation assessments.   
  • Provide servant leadership to the NAFACT community.  Be available and listen to the team members providing discernment and wise guidance while encouraging personal growth and development in each staff member.   
  • Ensure team members maintain compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.    
  • Train and assign department team members.  Provide oversight, direction, and mentoring, develop and communicate performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of team, both as a department and individually.  Evaluate performance and provide counseling, cross training and coaching to employees.   
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations as well as ensuring all documentation and reporting requirements are met.
  • Thinks and plans strategically to sustain and grow the department including forecasted plans for employment continuity for key employees assigned to projects that are ending.
  • Manifest evidence of clear personal maturity, emotional intelligence, cultural intelligence, and integrity of character that aligns with NAFACT core values (DNA).   
  • Must be available to travel to attend at least four in-person Executive Leadership Team (ELT) meetings annually, in addition to participating in scheduled virtual ELT meetings.
